Every AI memory tool is racing to capture more. Save every message, every doc, every meeting, hand it all back to you later.
I think they're solving the wrong problem.
Storage was the easy part. Every tool can already hold everything you give it. The thing none of them solve is curation, and curation is what makes context worth having. Save everything and you save the noise with it. Now you're searching a bigger pile.
The useful version is the opposite of automatic. You decide what stays. You prune. You distill last month's mess into the three lines that actually matter. That judgment is the work, and it's the part no tool does for you.
I build context systems for founders, and there's one rule I don't break. The AI proposes, the human approves. Nothing reaches memory until someone decides it's worth keeping.
Capture is easy. Knowing what to keep is the whole game.
What the context caught
Em-dashes gone. The rule is absolute, so the sentence gets restructured instead of patched. Same for the hype words: seamless, game-changer, frictionless, revolutionary, all out.
"It's not about remembering more. It's about remembering better." That reject-then-assert move is the most recognizable AI tell. Cut. The claim gets stated straight instead.
Dead opening ("In today's fast-paced world"), engagement bait ("let that sink in"), the rhetorical question, the hashtag pile, the emoji. All stripped.
The cold version has no point of view. It's enthusiastic about nothing in particular. The tuned one carries my actual position: curation is the work, automatic capture is the thing I bet against, the human gate is non-negotiable.
The coffee test. Short sentences, plain verbs, builder voice. It reads like something I'd say, not something written for a brochure.
